Over the past three years, participants of Kentucky's Math Leadership Network have studied, deconstructed, bundled, and created lessons and assessments around the Common Core Math Standards, yet time and time again we see evidence that not ALL students are learning how to make sense of mathematics, apply their learning in new & complex settings, and make connections within and outside of the content. I hear teachers frustrated at the lack of meaning students apply to procedures and their uncertainty regarding how to make instructional changes to impact such deficits.
